iMSA welcomes Tom Conrad, the Chief Technology Officer of Pandora Internet Radio!
Love Music? Love Technology? Pandora combines both to provide users the best experience when you listen to music. Come in and see how the classes you take for ISYS apply! Learn more about how this company uses Java, Open Source, Project Management and Data Base Modeling when they are conducting their Music Genome Project, a complex system of algorithms that separate and categorizes the hundreds of attributes in music.
Our meeting will be in the Business Building Room 216 at 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, 10/21/09.

Kenny Spade of Microsoft is coming to SFSU to speak about Windows 7, Cloud Computing, writing games for the Xbox 360, Windows Mobile, Zune HD, digital photography, working for Microsoft, or anything else related to technology or Microsoft in general. He is an academic development evangelist for Microsoft.
*Free software, hardware, Xbox 360 games and other items will be raffled off!
Software Freedom Day
Software Freedom Day is a global celebration and education of why transparent and sustainable technologies are now more important than ever. With over 200 teams in 60 countries participating, it is a fantastic event to get involved in. We will be on campus from 10:00AM to 3:00PM tabling with iLEARN. The day of the event was September 19th, 2009, but has now changed to September 17th, 2009. So stop by and pick up some open source software! Hey fellow students! Come join iMSA for our Welcome Night on September 16, 2009 in BUS 120! It’s from 5:00p.m. – 6:30p.m. This is the signal of the beginning of a new semester for iMSA. This Welcome Night is best if you:
-Have questions about what Information Systems really embodies
-Want to get more involved with
-Are curious to find out what iMSA does (potential upcoming Halo Party!)
-Are a starving Business student
-Are a hungry non-Business student
-Just want to partake in new, deeper experiences with your University life instead of taking only taking classes
There will be food, refreshments, and chances to network with other students.

Google Corporate Tour
Google Corporate Tour
The long awaited trip to Google is here. We'll meet up at Building 41 in the Googleplex where we'll sign in and get our name badges. We'll take a quick tour of the Googleplex and then enjoy a free lunch in their world famous cafeteria.
Prof. Lik Mui of SF State's Information Systems department will be guiding the tour.
This is an iMSA members (confirmed members) only trip and a RSVP is required.
There are 18 seats 0 seats available and its first come first serve so RSVP fast by selecting the YES option of the Google Calendar invite.
We'll be making a trip out to the Computer History Museum after the Googleplex so please make sure to make proper transportation arrangements if you can't attend both locations.

I'm proud to announce that as of April 14, 2009 at 12:30am, iMSA has offically started its website building campaign by implementing its first sponsored website for the International Business Society http://userwww.sfsu.edu/~ibs_sfsu
The campaign was started as a fundraising event to build up funds for a possible ISYS graduation ceremony. It has since spawned into an education campaign aimed at training future iMSA members the skills need for building basic CSS websites with simple CRM (Customer Relationship Management systems) integration.

Risk Management in a Mobile Scenario

Technology risk management is a mostly uncovered area for knowledge management applications in finance. In this presentation a method is presented that applies semantic web technologies such as the Web Ontology Language (OWL) and automatic reasoning for supporting knowledge-intensive risk management processes. Since effective risk management requires decision makers to access a knowledge base often and from everywhere it is the next logical step to implement mobile applications for this purpose. However, semantic web technologies are heavy-weight and difficult to implement in the limited resources of a mobile environment. Solutions for this problem are investigated in this presentation.
Tilo Dickopp is a researcher in the Information Systems Department at the University of Mannheim, Germany. He is investigating mobile technologies and computational economics.
